Information stored on the device

Gentle Next stores parent settings, the approved video library, watching plans, and in-app activity history locally on the device. This information is not sent to SabMark. Android cloud backup and device transfer are disabled for the app. A parent can delete app-managed data from Parent mode or remove it by uninstalling the app.

Google and YouTube

When a parent connects a YouTube account, Gentle Next requests read-only YouTube access. The resulting refresh token is encrypted with an app-only key held by Android Keystore. The app sends that credential and requests for account activity to Google only when the parent uses connected features. Disconnecting makes a best-effort request to revoke the Google token, then deletes the local token and encryption key.

When a parent searches YouTube, Gentle Next sends the search terms, the app's restricted API credential or the parent's connected-account credential, and standard network information such as IP address to Google. When an approved video is played, the video ID and standard network information are sent to YouTube through the embedded player. Google and YouTube process this information under their own privacy terms.

Direct Google watch-history import is disabled in production until Google completes the required OAuth and Data Portability verification. Parents can instead choose and import a Google Takeout file already stored on their device; the app processes that file locally.

Child Guard accessibility service

Child Guard is optional and is enabled only by a parent in Android Accessibility settings. During active child mode, it reads the foreground app and window name plus limited accessibility event labels so it can bring Gentle Next back when another app opens and dismiss the notification shade. The service cannot retrieve full window content or perform gestures. It does not store or transmit accessibility event data.

What Gentle Next does not use

Gentle Next does not contain advertising, analytics SDKs, in-app purchases, developer-operated accounts, or developer-operated cloud synchronization. SabMark does not sell or share personal information collected through Gentle Next because the app does not transmit app-managed family data to SabMark.

Security and changes

Network requests use HTTPS. App-managed data is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. Production builds do not log family activity or OAuth credentials. Parents should keep Android and Gentle Next updated. Material policy changes will be reflected here and in the app with a new effective date.
